The Am Law 200 firm's decision follows a multi-office pilot spanning research, litigation, and transactional practice groups, with Stoel Rives citing Legora's security posture and the precision of its legal research capabilities as deciding factors.

Legora, the agentic operating system for legal professionals, today announced that Stoel Rives LLP, an Am Law 200 firm with approximately 350 attorneys across ten offices, has selected Legora as its firm-wide AI platform. The decision follows a pilot that reached more than 100 lawyers across multiple practice groups and offices.

Founded in 1907, Stoel Rives is recognized nationally for its work in energy, natural resources, environmental law, real estate, and litigation, serving clients coast to coast. The firm’s evaluation of Legora was rigorous by design: Stoel Rives' own AI, Privacy & Cybersecurity practice advises corporate clients on vetting AI vendors and adopting the technology responsibly, and the firm held Legora to that same standard, running the platform through a formal security review before signing on.

"Stoel Rives' strategic plan calls for thoughtful investment in the people, technologies, and capabilities that support exceptional client service. The adoption of Legora reflects our commitment to innovation and equips our lawyers with tools that help them deliver high-quality legal services in an increasingly dynamic legal environment,” said Melissa Jones, Firm Managing Partner at Stoel Rives.

Litigation emerged as one of the most active areas of use during the pilot. Attorneys used Legora to map the facts of a case across large volumes of documents, prepare early drafts of key filings, and speed up intake at the outset of a new matter, cutting down the resource-intensive setup work that typically consumes a litigation team's first weeks on a case.

Legal research was a second focus, with the firm's library and knowledge management team using Legora’s research capabilities directly. Attorneys cited the Legora aOS’s judgment as meaningfully differentiated from other tools in the market: instead of returning an exhaustive list of results to sort through, Legora surfaced a smaller number of targeted, well-reasoned results - a distinction several pilot participants raised unprompted.

“Stoel Rives evaluated us rigorously on security and on substance, and chose to bring Legora in across the firm - that's the bar we want every firm to hold us to,” said Max Junestrand, CEO and Co-Founder of Legora. “It also reflects a broader pattern we're seeing among law firms, who are increasingly configuring Legora around their own workflows, rather than adapting their workflows to off-the-shelf software.”
