Legora today announced a content partnership with The American Law Institute (ALI), the independent non-profit whose Restatements of the Law are developed through a rigorous, collaborative process involving leading judges, lawyers, and legal scholars and are enormously influential in the courts and legislatures.
ALI’s Restatements clarify the underlying principles of common law and provide guidance to courts confronting questions in areas including contracts, torts, property, trusts, and other fields. Restatements have been relied upon by courts and practitioners for more than a century and have become one of the most cited secondary sources in American courts.
The partnership follows Legora's announcement last week that it is rebuilding legal research around comprehensive data and a full ontology of law. Legora partners extensively to bring trusted content into Legora, and ALI is a direct example of how that works. Rather than leaving lawyers to search for Restatements in a separate database, Legora brings that content into the platform itself, using it to help its agent navigate the wider US legal corpus and allowing it to cite to authoritative sources, ensuring traceability of, and trust in the output.

For ALI, the partnership extends the reach of its work at a moment when legal research is increasingly starting inside AI tools rather than a library or database. Direct licensing ensures lawyers using Legora encounter the real text, correctly cited.

The announcement comes as Legora hosts a Legal Data Audit event for Law Librarians in New York City on September 23, where ALI will join in person.
