Over 170 legal and AI leaders gathered for an evening of sharp perspectives, conversation, and honest reflection. We called it Precedent – not just a summit, but a signal that something new is taking shape.
November 6th, Spring Studios in New York City. Conversations buzzed across the stage and floor alike: What does “responsible” AI adoption actually look like? Is the legal profession ready for the transformation ahead? How do we lead in the era of frontier models?
The energy in the room wasn’t just about curiosity, it was about action. From global law firm partners to AI founders, everyone agreed that change is no longer theoretical. The challenge now is how to harness AI confidently and creatively.
On stage, the audience heard from leaders in their field including Nilay Patel (Editor-in-Chief at The Verge), Jeff Bleich (General Counsel at Anthropic), Ilona Logvinova (Chief AI Officer at HSFK), Mary O’Carroll (Chief Operating Officer at Goodwin) and Scott Schools (Chief Compliance Officer at OpenAI).
Here are four standout themes that emerged from the program:
Designing the future of legal services: The next generation of legal delivery will be built on design, data, collaboration, and experience, leveraging the combined intelligence of humans and machines to better serve clients and reshape the profession.
Regulation through collaboration: Global approaches to AI governance vary widely, and progress depends on constructive dialogue between policymakers, technologists, and practitioners.
A new legal mindset: AI is prompting law firms to rethink their business models and how lawyers work. Future-ready lawyers will pair judgment with prompting, insight with oversight, and use AI not to replace expertise but to amplify it.
Rapid acceleration: The pace of change is exponential. Legora alone has seen an increase from 1,000 to 50,000 weekly active lawyers using the platform from 2024 to 2025. That growth is driven not just by technology, but by partnership, listening to, and building with, the world’s most innovative legal teams.

Together, these themes capture the moment we’re in, defined by both urgency and optimism. The conversation around AI in law has moved beyond speculation to implementation, and with it comes a responsibility to design the future deliberately. That sentiment set the stage for the final keynote from Legora’s co-founder and CEO, Max Junestrand, who spoke about what it truly means to make AI work for lawyers.
“We think it's the best time to be a lawyer,” said Max. “Because in the history of the legal industry, there has never been this many talented people aligned on a single mission. And as we leverage AI it's never been easier to go from idea to results as a practitioner
“While it's exciting to celebrate how far we've come, we are still so early in this journey. There's so much more ahead of us, and we couldn't be more excited about building this future together.”
On stage, Max revealed what’s ahead for Legora, including Portal, an AI-powered platform designed to transform collaboration between law firms and in-house legal teams. Built in partnership with the law firms driving change, it reflects Legora’s commitment to building technology with lawyers, not just for them.
As we look back at Precedent, we’re both inspired and challenged. Challenged to keep building a world-class platform, that empowers world-leading legal teams to work smarter, faster, and most importantly, together.
AI is no longer a side conversation in law – it’s the conversation. Thank you to everyone who helped set the precedent.
See you in London, 2026.
