With over 360 employees for every in-house lawyer*, the sheer volume of legal requests can leave teams waiting or proceeding without legal review. Intake lets employees ask legal for help and puts the Legora Agent to work on each request, with lawyers accountable throughout.
Legora, the agentic operating system for legal professionals, today announced Intake, a front door for in-house legal teams with the Legora Agent at its core, available now in Slack. Intake turns everyday legal requests into tracked work in Legora and can prepare it using the legal team’s own Skills and playbooks, so lawyers review a first draft rather than start from a blank page.
In-house legal teams field a constant stream of requests from across the business: a contract to check, a supplier to approve, a policy question to answer. Requests are often poorly framed or arrive incomplete, so business stakeholders either stall or go ahead without legal input, taking on risk the legal team never sees. The median in-house lawyer now supports 367 employees, up 26% in a year*, while only 32% of legal departments expect to hire more attorneys.
“It’s easy to use AI to make an individual lawyer faster. What matters is turning that into ROI for the whole legal team, and that means building a platform that takes care of the work around the work,” said Bryan Tsao, Chief Product Officer at Legora. “With Intake, a request from the business goes straight to the Legora Agent, which works from the team’s own Skills and integrations as one end-to-end system.”
Intake is built on the Legora platform in-house teams already use, so the Agent that handles a legal request works with the instructions and context already in the system. That is what sets it apart from most existing intake tools, which use AI to triage and route a request but leave the lawyer to do the work in another tool.
For example, an employee raises a request in their company’s legal-requests channel in Slack. The Legora Agent reads the request, asks in the thread for anything that’s missing, and routes it to the right legal team as a tracked task with an owner and a due date. Then it prepares the work, drawing on the team’s own playbooks and precedents.
How far the Agent goes is the legal team’s decision, made request type by request type. By default a lawyer reviews every piece of work before it goes back. For routine requests the team has approved in advance, such as a standard NDA, the Agent can complete the whole task and send the answer back to the requester. And because every request is logged with a task type, assignee, and turnaround times, legal leaders now get something most in-house teams have never had: data on what the business asks of legal.
“Before I’d let an agent answer the business on legal’s behalf, I needed to know who owns the answer. In Intake, a lawyer always does, so requests reach us complete and routine work like security questionnaires stops landing on my most senior people,” said Emma Kadri Bergström, General Counsel at Legora, whose team partnered on the design of Intake.
Intake is available today in Slack, where teams can get legal support by @mentioning Legora. Legora plans to extend Intake to Microsoft Teams, email, and MCP. Legora’s legal engineers configure it around how each team already works. It is designed to get the business faster answers, keep everyday requests inside legal’s oversight, and give in-house lawyers back time for the work that needs their judgment.
