joined legora
Deloitte Sweden's rewards team set out to benchmark executive compensation across more than 95 large-cap companies, working from the companies' own annual reports and remuneration disclosures.
With Legora's technology and the team's domain expertise combined, the data gathering behind that benchmark became structured, repeatable, and significantly faster.
This gave the team a proprietary view of the market and more time to spend on the analysis behind its client advice.

With Legora, Deloitte Sweden:
Reduced executive compensation benchmarking time by up to 50 percent
Improved consistency and precision across more than 500 documents and 95 companies
Reinvested time saved into deeper analysis and higher-value client work
Increased confidence among junior team members by shifting from manual data gathering to structured review
Here’s how they achieved it.
The challenge: applying deep expertise across a whole market
Deloitte Sweden’s practice advises clients on executive compensation, incentive programs, pensions, employment tax, and related legal matters. This demands precision and careful interpretation of complex rules.
Executive compensation benchmarking within the rewards team, led by Bill Allen, required reviewing annual reports and remuneration disclosures from Stockholm’s large-cap companies. Before any comparison or interpretation could begin, the underlying data had to be located and extracted from hundreds of documents which took a significant amount of time.
As volume increased, recurring challenges emerged:
Hundreds of documents to work through for every set of comparisons
Specialist time spent locating and sorting data rather than interpreting it
Limited capacity to extend coverage across the full large-cap market
Less room for the strategic analysis clients value most
For a growing team supporting multiple clients, the limiting factor was capacity.

The solution: building the extraction layer together
To handle the growing workload, the team partnered with Legora, introducing the platform into Deloitte Sweden’s compensation analysis and drafting processes. The partnership began as a large internal benchmarking project designed to build structured market insights that could support future client advisory.
Using Legora’s tabular review functionality, Deloitte Sweden automated structured data extraction across more than 500 documents covering 95 companies. Most of the effort sat in the design: breaking the reports down, building tailored templates, and writing and refining the preset questions until the extracted data matched what the team's specialists knew to be correct. That configuration took considerable time up front, and it is what made consistent extraction across 95 companies possible.
With that layer in place, the team's analysts start from structured data, verify it against the source disclosures, and move into the comparison and interpretation that produce the final advice.
In parallel, Legora supported drafting and document refinement, where first versions are prepared and refined ahead of full professional review.
As Assistant Manager Jacob Ossmark explained: “Legora means better, faster writing, freeing up time for me to provide more valuable services for the clients.”
Adoption: integrating Legora into daily workflows
For benchmarking work, juniors moved from manually searching through annual reports to reviewing structured outputs generated through preset templates. Instead of starting from a blank document, they began with organized data ready for validation.
Across drafting and agreement review, initial versions of reports and comments were generated and refined within Legora before final professional review. This cut down on repetitive work while keeping full control over the legal analysis and advisory.
The team also used Legora’s shared workspace functionality for due diligence projects, enabling multiple colleagues to review large data collaboratively. Instead of team members duplicating uploads and organizing documents separately, colleagues could analyze data in a shared environment, making collaboration easier and keeping the work consistent.
As Bill noted: “With Legora acting as a preparer, we've shifted from juniors manually searching for answers to simply reviewing Legora's outputs. This change significantly saves time, allowing our juniors to approach tasks with greater confidence.”

The results: measurable efficiency, stronger outputs
With Legora embedded into key workflows, the team were able to apply their expertise faster and at greater scale.
50% faster executive compensation benchmarking
For the benchmarking project, the impact was clear and quantifiable. By automating structured data extraction across more than 500 documents covering 95 companies, the team reduced executive compensation benchmarking time by up to 50 percent.
What previously required approximately eight hours per company could be completed in roughly half that time once workflows were optimized.
Across the full set of 95 companies, this meant:
One consistent extraction standard applied to every company in the set
Specialist time redirected from retrieval to analysis
Faster turnaround across large volumes of documents
A proprietary data foundation for future client insight and advisory work

Deeper analysis within the same engagement
In drafting and document review, the gain showed up as depth. With less of each engagement spent on preparatory work, more of it goes into the parts clients value most: testing conclusions against a wider evidence base, working through the analysis specific to each client, and sharpening the final recommendations.
Combining Legora's technology with the team's domain expertise means clients get:
Recommendations tested against a broader set of comparators
More time spent on analysis and assessments
Advice with more depth

From manual extraction to strategic advisory
Across benchmarking and drafting workflows, the team shifted its focus from mechanical document review to strategic interpretation.
With routine extraction and drafting streamlined, the team could:
Perform more nuanced assessments
Refine client recommendations
Deliver higher-value advisory services
The structured benchmarking data gives the team a stronger foundation, backed by clearer insights and a deeper understanding of the market.
For Deloitte Sweden, Legora functions as a structured analytical partner, enabling the team to operate faster and more confidently in data gathering and structuring, freeing up capacity for the team to provide higher levels of strategic contribution to the client.
Jacob described the impact of the partnership: “If Legora were taken away, it would feel like losing a colleague. The impact on my work would be enormous.”
The result is an even higher-performing advisory practice, meeting complex client work with precision and consistency.
