Announcing three new Word Actions to streamline document drafting and editing: Fill Template, Anonymize and Improve Writing.
Microsoft Word remains the dominant document creation tool in the legal industry, with 90% of lawyers relying on it as their primary document processor. Legal professionals spend up to 60% of their workday creating or reviewing documents - making any efficiency improvements in Word incredibly valuable.
Since its launch, the Legora Word Add-in has been a game-changer for lawyers, making drafting and redlining faster, smarter, and more intuitive. Its flexible chat interface empowers lawyers to work in new ways, opening up possibilities that traditional tools can’t match. At the same time, we also see an opportunity to make it even easier for users less familiar with AI, helping them get great results with less effort and more confidence.
Enter Word Actions! Behind a simple click of a button lies sophisticated, multi-step logic that automates some of the most tedious, repetitive tasks that lawyers need to do daily. And today, we are thrilled to announce three new actions (along with the already available Translate).
1. Fill Template
This action allows the population of templates with content from reference documents. Whether it’s an M&A lawyer wanting to fill in an SPA based on a term sheet, or a business development professional creating submissions for Legal 500 based on previous Chambers submissions, Fill Template gets them 90% of the way there in seconds.
2. Anonymize
Creating templates or preparing documents for sharing often requires removing sensitive information. Our Anonymize action automatically identifies and replaces information like addresses, company names, dates, and locations with appropriate placeholders. What sets our implementation apart is that lawyers can review and selectively accept the suggested changes, maintaining complete control over the anonymization process.
3. Improve Writing
When there’s a need to sharpen legal drafting, the Improve Writing action polishes text while preserving its material meaning. Lawyers can simply highlight a section and click the button - no need to craft a perfect prompt.
4. Translate
The Translate action, powered by DeepL, allows the translation of documents while preserving formatting and structure. There's no need to copy and paste text into external translation tools, risking formatting issues or data security concerns. Everything happens within Word, keeping data secure and documents looking consistent.
While our first batch of Actions focuses on streamlining document drafting and editing, we plan to add many more in the future. Our long-term goal is to build a comprehensive suite of tools that work seamlessly together, enabling legal professionals to automate routine tasks and direct their expertise where it truly matters, delivering exceptional legal advice.
